LST Maximalist shares his thoughts on Bitcoin Liquid Staking and discusses the current landscape of shared security in the blockchain space.

Welcome to the 4th edition of our exciting new series, dubbed the ‘X Talks Bitcoin’ series. This is not just another industry discussion. It’s a unique opportunity for the pSTAKE community and Bitcoin enthusiasts to gain exclusive insights into Bitcoin, the emerging BTCfi industry, and potential yield-generating strategies.

Our series will feature expert opinions, providing invaluable insights into the future of Bitcoin and how we can all best position ourselves. These discussions are not just relevant but crucial to all our readers, offering a “not-to-be-missed” and “thought-provoking” perspective on what’s coming next for Bitcoin.

We spoke to Hakan Sezikli (Co-Founder at BEVM) in the previous edition about Bitcoin L2s and Yields. Today LSTMaximalist, a leading researcher in the Restaking space, shares his candid thoughts on Bitcoin Liquid Staking.

1. How do you perceive the current landscape of shared security in the blockchain space?

Hard to say at the moment, we are still waiting for AVS rewards and Eigen payments/incentives, at this point it will be important to also track who has the most ETH delegated to AVS, the more delegated the more the rewards, at this point If i’m not mistaken is Renzo which curiously after all they’ve been through is the protocol that managed to maintain their peg the better compared to the others.

Regarding competition, Symbiotic and Karak are doing very well, consistently taking TVL out of Eigen with the promise of better airdrops and diversification, on the BTC side definitely curious about pSTAKE, Lombard and Babylon, as I think they will be the biggest players in that sector.

2. Between Bitcoin and Ethereum, which do you consider superior for restaking regarding security consumption, and why?

I believe both have their own pros and cons. I believe both can help secure multiple new ecosystems and services. And right now we are also seeing Solana staking taking place so I believe its a good diversification. Which I believe will result in more capital floating to BTC and SOL coming out of ETH restaking.

3. What is your outlook on the growth and evolution potential of BTCfi in the coming years?

I believe it will be huge if we do provide current BTC holders a easy and quick access into LRTs and DeFi products being built there. Of course we will most likely see a flow from other ecosystems to BTC if protocol manage to plan their incentive structures properly and if the narrative and yield and captivating but I’d say that white label solutions towards CEXs would be a good idea to really allow more people to tap into such products and let more liquidity flow in.
