Welcome to the 6th edition of our exciting new series, dubbed the ‘X Talks Bitcoin’ series. This is not just another industry discussion. It’s a unique opportunity for the pSTAKE community and Bitcoin enthusiasts to gain exclusive insights into Bitcoin, the emerging BTCfi industry, and potential yield-generating strategies.
Our series will feature expert opinions, providing invaluable insights into the future of Bitcoin and how we can all best position ourselves. These discussions are not just relevant but crucial to all our readers, offering a “not-to-be-missed” and “thought-provoking” perspective on what’s coming next for Bitcoin.
We spoke to Andy from The Rollup (a thought provoking leader in Modularity) in the previous edition about Bitcoin and Modularity. Today Arcanum Capital shares candid thoughts on Bitcoin, its narrative, infrastructure and more.
1) How closely are you looking into the Bitcoin Ecosystem?
We believe Bitcoin is among the strongest utilities and narratives in the digital asset realm. Bitcoin’s strength and security make it valuable across various sectors. Just as derivatives, financial instruments, and mechanisms were built around gold, digital infrastructure will continue to emerge around Bitcoin. We have several Bitcoin ecosystem projects in our portfolio and are actively monitoring the market for promising opportunities.
2) Bitcoin (both the asset and network) has seen a lot of promising developments like BTC Staking, L2 Scaling, OP_CAT, and more.
Where do you think we are from a trend/narrative perspective for Bitcoin?
There’s no doubt that Bitcoin is expanding its functionality. Despite the growth, we believe its core value will always lie in its role as a store of value. Given the financial nature of the asset, the developments in DeFi are particularly exciting. With the recent launch of Babylon and the introduction of LSTs built on it, we’re seeing significant momentum in this space at the moment.
3) A lot of capital has flown into crypto infrastructure in the last few months.
Do you foresee the same happening for Bitcoin? Or will DeFi and apps make a comeback?
Since its inception, Bitcoin has led the adoption curve for blockchain technology, and we believe this trend is likely to persist in the near future. As Bitcoin continues to drive global blockchain adoption, the development of blockchain infrastructure will follow in its wake. Naturally, crypto narratives are always shifting, but in the long term, we believe in the growth of Bitcoin, blockchain infrastructure, DeFi, and dApps.
4) “Everything in crypto has been a testnet for Bitcoin” is becoming a common notion today.
What kind of projects in the Bitcoin Ecosystem excite you?
There are many promising staking and restaking projects emerging from the BTC ecosystem. Babylon is solidifying its position as a major player, LST protocols such as pSTAKE are becoming key integrations, and restaking platforms like SatLayer are unlocking cost effective security and enhanced yield opportunities. These concepts, initially proven on DeFi-native blockchains, are being embraced by the Bitcoin community.
